Newer strategy for Rangers at Ascenscion
Ok, everyone knows that people dont understand how to use the search function here so here I go with my description. I used this technique myself after several tries, and fineally it worked. I told someone else, and then it helped them as well, so here I go.
First off, you should at least have your Lion's Arc armor....if not, well, then what are you doing in Augury Rock? The armor I had for this site was the Leather Vest from a collector outside of Overlook in the highlands, and the druid armor from lions arc. I had 2 runes on the armor, minor marksmanship, and minor expertise. Now for the skillset. Going from left to right, there are the 8 skills I used. Powershot -- Distracting Shot -- Dehabilitating Shot -- Troll Ungent -- Oyategoughs Cry (or w.e the hell it is, its the wilderness spirit that turns all the neutral animals hostile) Basically, if you have the armor I specified, then that means that when fighting your dopple, his bow will hurt.....a lot.....so get in close! The chaos axe, if like i stated before about armor, will do around 30 damage a hit, maybe more. Keep using power shot and dehab. shot untill he uses troll ungent, in which then you use distracting shot, lather, rinse, repeat. This tecnique should lower his health pretty quickly, but remember to keep at least 5 (or if your an expertise RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO, like myself, 2) Energy open for that distracting shot if you have it.... For people who were wondering, here is my bow that I did it with: Zealous Shadow Bow of Defense 15-28 Piercing Damage Energy on hit 1 Energy Loss -1 +5 (vs physical attacks) I hope this helps someone out, but please people, dont flame. |

Just put all spirits in your bar and pound away at him while he casts those... seems easy enough to me... but whatever works for ya.

I ascended with my ranger a couple of days ago. It was by far the easiest fight against the mirror I've done. loaded up traps, throw dirt, ignite arrows, poison arrow, troll unguent. Soon as fight starts you walk up to the mirror and use throw dirt, set traps at his feet, prep ignite arrow and shoot him with poison arrow. Took him down in less than 15 seconds.

Well I tried some of the other ones, and still, I find mine to be a little more effective...but still, compiling a couple of ranger strats is very good, seeing as many of the older threads are buried deep within the depths of the forest of true sight....

I have a good strategy for beating doppleganger with a ranger.
Bring Favorable winds, troll ungent, distracting shot, and a few bow attacks (like penetrating shot, power shot, hunters shot) and a preparation like kindle arrows. When the battle starts, let him put down favorable winds, you cast kindle arrows whle hes working on the 5 second cating time. fire off a few bow attacks and if at any time he uses troll ungent, use distracting shot. Troll ungent and distracting shot have the same recharge time so you can stop his healing any time. when you need healing, cast favorable winds and he will interrupt it with distracting shot. Now you can cast troll ungent and he cant interrupt you because his distracting shot is recharging. Continue blasting bow attacks. he should be dead within 30 seconds. |

Ranger strategy has been posted before.
Best and simplest strategy is nature rituals. You need three at most, with apply poison and maybe dual shot. He's dead before he can cast three nature rituals (less than 15 seconds). Easy, quick, no need to even think. 'Nuff said. |

hahahah heres how i beat him on my frist try.. i thought he would be super hard so i brought somehting to slow him down (iron mist) i was a noooby r/e thought he was badass.... anyway he cast iron mist on me and with iron mist on you, you can only take dmg from like lighting so he wasnt doing like any dmg... so i won from that cuz he couldnt kill me...... I dont suggest using this though its the shiitest build

heh there's loads of rangers strats. i used a similar one to you, except i took healing spring as my only heal, then a ton of bow attacks.
Get close enough that he's using an axe but far enough away that he's not hitting you. spring gets interuppted everytime you hit him. he dies. you take no damage. |
